Prenatal Vitamin Maker to Pay $1.75 Million Over Lead Claims (1)

A maker of prenatal vitamins will pay $1.75 million and undergo regular testing to settle allegations levied by Los Angeles that the company falsely advertised the levels of lead in its products.

Rainbow Light, which provides supplements that the company says “make a difference in the health and well-being” of its customers, will pay $1.5 million in restitution to consumers. The company, which is owned by Clorox, will also cease certain advertising, reduce the lead content in prenatal vitamins, and pay for testing to protect expectant mothers and their babies, according to Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer.
