Pfizer Sheds Some Claims Over Carcinogen-Contaminated Chantix

Pfizer Inc. on Tuesday convinced a federal judge to trim claims in consolidated litigation alleging the company misrepresented its smoking cessation drug Chantix when it sold the drug after a nitrosamine contamination.

Judge Katherine Polk Failla of the US District Court for the Southern District of New York dismissed claims alleging the drug was misrepresented because the contamination meant the drug that was sold can’t be considered Chantix or because the nitrosamines should have been disclosed as an active ingredient.
