Pfizer, Lilly See Appeal in Suits Tying Viagra, Cialis to Cancer

Pfizer Inc. and Eli Lilly and Co. face an appeal in the Ninth Circuit of claims on behalf of hundreds of men who allege the companies’ erectile dysfunction drugs increase the risk of skin cancer.

The drug makers won final judgment from the Northern District of California in April, following the court’s earlier exclusion of the plaintiffs’ expert witnesses.

Plaintiffs alleged they suffered from melanoma exacerbated by their use of Pfizer’s drug Viagra and Lilly’s drug Cialis. The suits were consolidated in multidistrict litigation in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
