PetSmart Inc. won’t have to face a nationwide class lawsuit in California federal court alleging flaws in its hamster and gerbil homes can allow rodent pets to get out.
At issue are the company’s “All Living Things Tiny Tales Small Pet Habitats,” structures resembling castles, cars, rocket ships, and other things. Todd Carpenter alleged the pets can chew through soft plastic parts that connect habitats to one another, and become sick or escape.
