Pest-Repeller Experts May Testify in Suit Over Effectiveness

Ultrasonic pest repeller maker Bell + Howell and plaintiffs each can present expert testimony in a class suit alleging the devices don’t keep insects and rodents away.

Ultrasonic pest repellers are small electronic devices that emit high-frequency sounds, inaudible to humans but intolerable to pests.

The plaintiffs sued BHH, LLC, which does business as Bell + Howell, saying the products are ineffective or, at best, simply drive pests into cabinets and behind furniture.

The suit is one of hundreds alleging makers of foods and household goods deceive consumers about what their products can do.
