Parts Maker Cleared of Asbestos Claims at Firestone Plant

Tire machinery and parts maker McNeil & NRM Inc. won dismissal of claims by the estate of a Firestone employee that workplace exposure to the company’s asbestos-containing products caused his mesothelioma.

The estate failed to show that Franklin Finch was exposed to a specific product on a regular basis over an extended period of time, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina said Aug. 22.

Though Finch worked on tire molds at the factory that contained asbestos-containing parts manufactured by McNeil, the estate didn’t show asbestos fibers were released into the air, the court said.
