Paccar, Peterbilt Fail to Dislodge Engine-Malfunction Suit

Paccar Inc. and subsidiaries, including Peterbilt Motors Co. and Kenworth Truck Co., continue to face most claims in a proposed class suit by truck owners who allege malfunctioning engines.

The alleged problem occurs in Paccar Engine Co. MX-13 diesel engines in commercial vehicles made by the Paccar companies, according to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

Santoro Transportation, Inc., based in California, and S.L. Anderson & Sons Corp., based in Wisconsin, allege the engines require an emissions-control unit that makes them unreliable and prone to malfunction.
