No Class Certification in Tamko Roofing Defect Case

Tamko Building Products moved a step closer to victory after a court refused to certify a would-be class action over allegedly defective roofing shingles (Hummel v. Tamko Building Prods., Inc., M.D. Fla., 6:15-cv-00910, 9/7/17).

Plaintiff Michelle Hummel’s suit contended that defects in Tamko’s Heritage Series fiberglass asphalt roofing shingles limited their utility and lifespan.

She urged the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida to allow her to sue on behalf of all Floridians with homes containing the roofing product.
