Nissin Sheds Ramen Noodle Deception Suit Over ‘No Added MSG’

Cup Noodles maker Nissin Foods USA Co. defeated a proposed class suit alleging its “No Added MSG” label claim deceived consumers.

A disclaimer saying Top Ramen, Hot & Spicy, and other products contain naturally occurring glutamates would dispel any confusion about whether the noodles contain any glutamate at all, the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York said in dismissing the case.

Monosodium glutamate, frequently referred to as MSG, is added to foods to enhance umami flavor.
