Nike Hit With Lawsuit Over ‘Sustainable’ Clothing Claims (1)

Nike deceptively markets certain products as part of a “sustainable” line to capitalize on the increasing consumer demand for environmentally friendly products, a Missouri resident alleges in a new proposed class action.

Maria Guadalupe Ellis sued Nike USA Inc. and Nike Retail Services Inc. Wednesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, alleging the clothing and other products at issue aren’t made from sustainable materials and aren’t good for the environment.

The company’s marketing touts the products as “sustainable” and “made with recycled fibers” which “reduces waste and our carbon footprint,” the suit alleges.
