NHL Enforcer’s Estate Sues Over Fight Culture, CTE Findings

The National Hockey League should be held liable for the suicide death of on-ice enforcer Todd Ewen, a new lawsuit alleges.

Ewen’s death exemplifies the league’s promotion of violence and concealment of long-term brain injuries associated with the sport, the April 30 complaint filed by his widow, Kelli Ewen, said.

The complaint also claims the NHL relied on a flawed autopsy of Ewen’s brain to conclude he didn’t suffer from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, a degenerative brain disease suffered by some deceased pro hockey players.
