Nestlé Must Face Lawsuit Challenging Poland ‘Spring Water’ (1)

Nestlé Waters North America Inc. lost its bid for judgment on most claims in a proposed class suit challenging its marketing of Poland Spring bottled water, according to a ruling by a federal court in Connecticut.

Consumers allege Poland Spring products don’t meet the legal definition of “spring water” because the multiple sites in Maine where Nestlé obtains its water aren’t natural springs.

The beverage maker filed a summary judgment motion aimed at consumer protection and common law claims under the laws of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
