Nestle Charged in French Pizza Case Suspected in Two Deaths (1)

Two Nestle subsidiaries have been charged with unintentional manslaughter in France after authorities linked the deaths of two children to contaminated pizza dough at one of its factories.

The French units were also charged with injury and deceit, Nestle said Friday in an email.

Buitoni Fraîch’Up raw dough pizza is suspected of causing a 2022 outbreak of the food-borne illness known as Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. Some batches were found to contain E. coli STEC. Dozens of people became seriously ill.
