Nature’s Way Prenatal Vitamin Consumers Drop Heavy Metal Lawsuit

Two consumers who alleged that Schwabe North America Inc. and Nature’s Way Brands LLC failed to disclose the presence of heavy metals like lead and arsenic in prenatal vitamins have voluntarily dropped their claims, federal court filings in California show.

Mariah Schmucker and Kayla McGowan sued Schwabe and its Nature’s Way unit, alleging that chronic low dose and consistent in utero exposure to heavy metals can result in preterm delivery, stillbirth, or miscarriage.

Such exposure is also linked to negative health outcomes in childhood, including autism or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, they alleged.
