Muscle Milk $12 Million Label Deal Gets Approved on Second Try

A $12 million class settlement resolving allegations that Cytosport Inc. deceptively marketed Muscle Milk shake and protein powder products got a California federal court’s tentative approval on the second try.

Chayla Clay and others allege the company overstated the protein content of Muscle Milk shakes and understated the fat content on powder products by using the word “lean” on their labels. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California certified a class of California consumers in 2018.
