A California teen who alleged his consumption of energy drinks made by Monster Beverage Corp. caused him to have a heart attack saw his trial loss upheld when a state appeals court court found sufficient evidence had been presented pointing to choking as the more likely cause of his attack.
Cody Bledsoe, who said he was a regular Monster drinker, sued in 2014, alleging the drink caused him to suffer cardiac arrest at age 18, which in turn led to permanent brain damage. He alleged causes of action for negligence, fraudulent concealment, and deceptive trade practices, among other things.
