Mitsubishi Gets Outlander Hood-Fluttering Lawsuit Narrowed

Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. got claims trimmed from a Massachusetts driver’s proposed class suit alleging 2022 Outlander SUVs have hoods that flutter and bounce during driving at highway speed or in windy conditions.

Jesse Rezendes alleged the defect distracts drivers and pedestrians, who worry that a vehicle’s hood will unlatch. It also inhibits drivers’ vision by causing sun rays to reflect off the hood and into their line of sight, and impairs vehicle aerodynamics and fuel economy, he said.
