Millions of Car Recalls Prompted by Denso Fuel Pumps, Asahi Says

Fuel pumps manufactured by Japan’s Denso Corp. were used in millions of cars that have been recalled due to problems with the engine parts since 2020, the Asahi newspaper reported, citing sources at the company and auto manufacturers it didn’t identify.

About 2.7 million such vehicles manufactured by firms including Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. have been recalled in Japan and more than 10 million recalled overseas, the paper said, citing sources at Denso and the auto manufacturers.

In the worst-case scenario, the fault could cause the engine to stall while driving, the paper said.
