Mike & Ike, Hot Tamales Packaging Suit Gets Class Certification

The maker of Mike and Ike and Hot Tamale candies will have to face a class suit alleging candy boxes are half-empty, deceiving customers.

Stephanie Escobar sued Just Born Inc., alleging it sells the candy in oversized, non-see through boxes that trick people into thinking they’re getting more.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California certified a class of all individuals who purchased 5-ounce boxes of Mike and Ike or Hot Tamales in California after Feb. 6, 2013.
