Mazda Exits Class Suit Alleging Flaw Caused Water Pump Failure

Mazda Motor of America Inc. is free of a class suit alleging certain vehicles had defective water pumps, following a federal judge’s ruling that granted summary judgment to the automaker and decertified classes of drivers from California and several other states.

Terry Sonneveldt and others alleged the automaker concealed the existence of a design flaw that caused premature water pump failure in Mazda’s 2008–2015 CX-9 and 2009–2013 6 s cars.
