Man Whose Wife Was Killed by Factory Robot Settles Mid-Trial

A man whose wife was killed by a robot at a Michigan auto parts plant reached a confidential settlement with Prodomax Automation Ltd., which built the assembly lines, midway through trial in a Michigan federal court.

Wanda Holbrook was a maintenance technician at the Ventra Ionia Main LLC plant. Ventra is an affiliate of Flex-N-Gate LLC, which supplied trailer hitch receiver assemblies for pickup trucks.

The plant’s assembly line uses robots in manufacturing, but humans sometimes need to enter work zones to resolve maintenance problems.
