Live Nation Faces Revived Lawsuit Over Festival Overdose Death

Live Nation Entertainment Inc. owed a duty of care to a 19-year-old festival attendee in California who died of a drug overdose, and a jury must decide whether the events company breached that duty, a state appeals court said Monday.

Katie Dix died after ingesting Ecstasy and bath salts at Hard Fest, a Live Nation electronic music festival in Pomona, Calif., in 2015. According to witnesses, security guards at the festival didn’t seem to know what to do when she collapsed, and no aid was given until medical personnel arrived, which took around 20 minutes.
