Liability Claims Against Syngenta’s Paraquat Move to Illinois

A growing number of product liability cases involving Syngenta AG’s herbicide paraquat will be transferred to a single federal district court in Illinois, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation in Washington decided.

Nearly 80 complaints filed around the country will move to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois to proceed under Judge Nancy J. Rosenstengel. She presides over all 20 cases filed in the district, and “we are confident that Judge Rosenstengel will steer this litigation on a prudent course,” the panel said in an order filed Monday.
