LG Fridge Settlement Draws Tens of Thousands of Claimants

More than 43,000 owners of allegedly breakdown-prone LG Electronics USA Inc. refrigerators have submitted claims in an uncapped nationwide class action settlement, a robust number that favors final approval of the deal, consumers told a federal court in New Jersey.

An administrator mailed settlement notice to about 1.25 million potential members of the 1.5 million member class and emailed notice to 978,000, the would-be class representatives said Tuesday in a filing with the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Some 44 refrigerator owners opted out, and two objected, the plaintiffs said.
