LG Electronics Agrees to Settle Fridge-Breakdown Class Suits

LG Electronics U.S.A. Inc. has agreed to offer compensation, warranty coverage, and greater service capacity to a proposed nationwide class of about 1.55 million refrigerator owners, according to a federal court filing in New Jersey.

Consumers who document their losses are eligible for up to several thousand dollars in recovery, the would-be class representatives told the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey Aug. 14.

The court should give the settlement preliminary approval and certify the class, they said.
