Lenovo Can’t Shake Off Suit Alleging Flawed Laptop Hinges

Lenovo US Inc. must defend proposed class action claims that it knowingly sold its Yoga computer devices with defective hinges, after the District of Maryland found the plaintiffs sufficiently alleged that the one-year warranty is unconscionable and unenforceable.

The device takes its name from the flexibility of its dual-hinge system. But the plaintiffs allege that the hinge cracks and fails, rendering the hinges inoperable and making it impossible to change the configuration of the devices.
