Lawmakers Press Companies, FDA on Jack3d Dietary Supplement

USPlabs continues to market and General Nutrition Centers Inc. (GNC) continues to sell Jack3d, a product containing dimethylamylamine (DMAA), despite recent Food and Drug Administration warnings questioning the safety of the stimulant, lawmakers said May 8.

Three Republican congressmen sent letters to the companies’ Chief Executive Officers, probing their continued practice. The CEOs were given a May 21 deadline to respond to questions, including requests for documents and communications relating to whether DMAA meets the legal definition of a dietary ingredient.
