Kia, Hyundai Drivers Urge Nod for $200 Million Car Security Deal

Drivers of Kia and Hyundai vehicles urged a federal judge to preliminarily approve a class settlement valued at more than $200 million, resolving allegations that inadequate security features made their cars easy to steal.

Plaintiffs alleged they overpaid for certain 2011–2022 Kia and Hyundai models that lacked an engine immobilizer—an electronic security device that makes it more difficult to start a vehicle without the appropriate key.
