Kashi Co., a unit of Kellogg Co., has agreed to pay $5 million and modify product labeling to resolve class claims challenging “all natural” or “nothing artificial” wording on certain items, according to documents filed May 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California (Astiana v. Kashi Co., S.D. Cal., No. 11-1967, motion filed).
The company will remove “all natural” wording from the labels and advertising of products that contain three ingredients: pyridoxine hydrochloride, calcium pantothenate and/or hexane-processed soy ingredients, unless those ingredients are approved for products identified as “natural” by a federal agency ...
