Juul Directors See Some Claims Tossed in Advance of Test Trials

Two electronic cigarette users from Louisiana and Mississippi who are going to trial against Juul Labs Inc., Altria Group Inc., and Juul officials can’t use those states’ product liability laws to pursue claims against certain individual directors, a federal court in California ruled.

Nor can those vapers pursue fraud claims against the directors at their bellwether trials, Judge William H. Orrick III said Thursday for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

But a Connecticut resident adequately pleaded claims of fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud, Orrick said.
