Jeep Lawsuit Alleges Combustible Batteries in Hybrid Wranglers

FCA US LLC, the parent company of Jeep vehicles and a subsidiary of Stellantis NV, was hit with a proposed class action alleging its hybrid-electric Wrangler were defectively designed because the battery can spontaneously combust when the ignition is off and the car is parked.

Owners and lessees of the 2021 and 2023 Jeep Wrangler 4xe from seven states sued Monday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and seek to represent a nationwide class of buyers or lessees of those models.
