Jacobs Engineering Liable to TVA Coal Ash Cleanup Workers (1)

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is liable for exposing its hazardous waste cleanup workers to toxic dust from the massive 2008 Tennessee Valley Authority coal ash spill, a federal jury in Tennessee said today.

Jurors deliberated for about five hours Wednesday before returning their verdict.

The liability verdict for the workers—30 of of whom have since died—came after a three-week trial in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.
