J&J’s Ethicon to Appeal $80 Million Pelvic Mesh Award (1)

Johnson & Johnson unit Ethicon will appeal a Philadelphia jury’s $80 million jury award, which includes the largest compensatory-damages verdict to date in a pelvic mesh case, the company said May 20.

The jury awarded Patricia Mesigian $30 million in compensatory damages and $50 million in punitive damages.

Mesigian’s case is the latest to be decided among about 130 pelvic mesh suits pending in the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia County.
