Johnson & Johnson was sued by two state attorneys general who alleged the company hid the risks of its pelvic mesh and left thousands of women suffering from chronic pain, infection and other health problems (California v. Johnson & Johnson, Cal. Super. Ct., 37-2016-00017229-CU-MC-CTL, complaint 5/24/16).
They’re the first mesh-related brought by state attorneys general following an investigation by 46 states and the District of Columbia.
California Attorney General Kamala Harris accused the company in her lawsuit of false advertising, alleging it neglected to inform patients and doctors of possible complications.
