Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. won’t get early dismissal of a lawsuit alleging benzene in spray sunscreen caused a teenage girl’s leukemia.
Kristi Hazard, who alleges her daughter’s leukemia was diagnosed in 2020, offered enough factual detail to advance her claims, the US District Court for the Central District of California said Tuesday.
Hazard alleged the family “regularly purchased” the company’s sunscreen products, including Neutrogena Beach Defense Aerosol Sunscreen and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Aerosol Sunscreen. She said she used the products on her daughter from approximately June 2010 until July 2021.
