Feb. 14, 2023, 4:46 PM UTC

Fleece Performance LLC of Pittsboro, Ind. has agreed to pay $190,548 and destroy its inventory of defeat device components and remove defeat devices from vehicles and engines to settle alleged Clean Air Act violations, according to the EPA Tuesday.

Defeat devices are used to bypass or disable vehicle emissions control systems, and can drastically increase vehicle pollution, the Environmental Protection Agency said.

In compliance with the settlement, the company must also post an announcement about the settlement on both its website and social media accounts, according to the EPA.
