Illume Fertility PLLC and its founder Mark Leondires failed to implement oversight controls that would have prevented the mistaken destruction of a couple’s frozen embryos, a lawsuit filed Tuesday alleged.
Nicole Couture-Gallagher and her husband Daniel Gallagher said the fertility clinic chalked up the destruction to it mistaking Nicole’s last name for that of another patient who had requested the destruction of their embryos in 2019. Additionally, it took the clinic five years to inform the couple of the mistake, according to the complaint filed in the Connecticut Superior Court, Judicial District of Bridgeport.
