Hyundai, Kia Cars Have Vapor Buildup Problem, Class Suit Says

Hyundai Motor America Inc. and Kia Motors America Inc. knowingly sold vehicles with a defect that allows gas vapors to build up in the fuel system, a consumer class action complaint alleged.

Vehicles with a T-GDI 1.6L Gamma II engine, including 2020-2024 Hyundai Sonatas and 2021-2024 Kia K5s, contain defective evaporative emissions control systems and engine control modules, according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of California.
