Hyland’s Inc. and parent Standard Homepathic Laboratories Inc. face trial on a mother’s claim that a homeopathic children’s cold product caused her infant son’s death, a Washington appeals court ruled.
Tanessa Desranleau offered enough evidence to reach a jury on whether Jay’Breon Desranleau consumed Hyland’s cold medicine and whether it was the cause of his death, the Washington Court of Appeals said. It reinstated a claim under the Washington Products Liability Act.
The 13-month-old was found dead in his crib Jan. 18, 2014, the court said.
Desranleu sued Hyland’s and Standard Homeopathic three years later.
