Huntington Ingalls Beats Take-Home Asbestos Suit

Ship builder Huntington Ingalls Inc. won dismissal of claims that a woman’s death was caused by exposure to asbestos brought home on her husband’s work clothes.

Dolores Punch’s daughter waited too long to file her claims, the Eastern District of Louisiana said.

Wrongful death and survival claims in Louisiana must be filed within one year of death. Punch died of mesothelioma on August 15, 2011, but her daughter, Judith Punch Rivera, didn’t file suit until June 8, 2017.
