Honeywell International Shakes Off Asbestos Claims as Untimely

Honeywell International Inc. won’t face a widow’s asbestos claims filed more than six years after her husband knew he had mesothelioma, a Minnesota appeals court held Sept. 16.

The six-year limit to file suit began when Gary Palmer knew he had mesothelioma and that it was caused by asbestos, the Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled.

The court rejected the argument that the statute of limitations only began to run when Palmer was able to specifically identify Honeywell as a legally responsible party.

Palmer was diagnosed with mesothelioma on Dec. 24, 2011, which ultimately caused his death on March 1, 2015. ...
