Honda Escapes Claims Over Defective Brakes, Dashboards for Now

American Honda Motor Co. convinced a federal judge to dismiss most claims in a proposed class action alleging defective brakes and electrical infotainment systems in some 2020-2022 models, but the plaintiffs have a chance to amend their claims.

The US District Court for the Central District of California on March 8 dismissed—with leave to amend—all claims but one, for breach of implied warranty of merchantibility under South Carolina law.

Plaintiffs Aida Gonzalez and Jason Haynie alleged 2020-2022 Pilots, Odysseys, and Passports had defective infotainment dashboard systems and automatic brake systems that would stop or slow the vehicle unintentionally.
