Hertz Audited by NHTSA Over Possible Rental of Recalled Vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an audit query to see if Hertz Global Holdings Inc. has rented out recalled vehicles before the required repairs were made.

The agency said it received information showing Hertz rented vehicles out “without having performed required recall repairs,” the agency said in a filing. The NHTSA, which hasn’t reached a conclusion on the matter, will now gather more information.

“We are reviewing NHTSA’s request for information regarding certain vehicles in our fleet from 2018-2020, and will cooperate fully with their investigation,” Hertz said in a statement. “We are committed to providing ...
