Haier Gets Split Ruling in Consumer Lawsuit Over GE Oven Glass

Consumers suing Haier US Solutions Inc. over allegedly crack-prone glass doors in ovens made by its GE Appliances unit can continue their consumer-protection claims under New Jersey and Pennsylvania law, a federal court in New York ruled.

But Asher Haft and Robert Fisher’s claims for breaches of express and implied warranties ran up against a one-year limitation, because the soda-lime glass parts allegedly shattered and cracked more than two years after they purchased their ovens, Judge Gregory H. Woods said Wednesday for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
