Groups File Suit to Reverse FDA Approval of GE Salmon

A coalition of consumer and environmental groups are suing the Food and Drug Administration to reverse the agency’s approval of genetically engineered salmon for sale and consumption (Institute for Fisheries Resources v. Burwell, N.D. Cal., complaint filed 3/31/16.

The Center for Food Safety, Earthjustice and other organizations filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California seeking to reverse the November 2015 approval for genetically engineered (GE) salmon grown by Maynard, Mass.-based AquaBounty Technologies Inc.
