GNC Sued Over Glucosamine Allegedly Passed Off as Superior

GNC Holdings Inc. portrays a less desirable type of joint-health supplement as the preferable formulation of glucosamine, a new proposed class suit in a California federal court alleges.

Glucosamine is commonly sold in two formulations: glucosamine hydrochloride and glucosamine sulfate, which is believed to be more effective, Californian Rigo Amavizca alleges in the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

Amavizca alleges he bought a bottle of GNC brand “Glucosamine Sulfate 550,” one of GNC’s private-label glucosamine sulfate offerings.
