General Motors LLC is asking a federal court in San Francisco to undo a $103 million jury verdict over alleged oil-consumption defect, arguing there isn’t enough evidence to support classwide findings on several key issues, including the existence of a common defect.
Judge Edward M. Chen, of the US District Court for the Northern District of California, excluded plaintiffs’ expert opinions on classwide defects, and no other expert opined that a defect existed in any of plaintiffs’ own vehicles, or in all of the class vehicles, according to GM’s filings.
