GM Recalls Chevy Cobalt, Pontiac G5 Autos To Fix Defect Linked to Power Steering

General Motors Corp. March 1 announced the voluntary recall of 1.3 million Chevrolet and Pontiac vehicles to fix a power steering problem.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM said the recall follows on the heels of an internal investigation of some 2005–2010 Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007–2010 model year Pontiac G5 vehicles (NHTSA Recall #10V-073). The company probe showed that the vehicles could experience a sudden loss of power steering assist.
