General Motors is recalling some 292,879 model year 2011–2012 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles, citing 27 alleged low-speed crashes related to brake performance, the automaker said Aug. 16.
The brake performance problem at the center of the recall is the potential for intermittent loss of brake assist. This may also have contributed to the crashes, GM said. No injuries have been reported, the automaker said in an emailed statement.
Vehicles with a certain turbo engine and automatic transmission combination may suffer from the problem, GM said. Only Cruze vehicles assembled at the Lordstown plant in Ohio are affected, GM said.
