General Motors Co. will recall as many as 69,633 vehicles that may experience a sudden failure of electronic power steering while driving, an expansion of an earlier callback.
The models affected include the Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx built from April 1 to June 30, 2006, as well as Pontiac G6 models assembled from April 18 to June 30, 2006, according to a Feb. 13 letter from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration acknowledging GM’s recall notice. GM will notify owners of the defect and replace the torque sensor assembly without charging for the fixes.
